The Creative Hot-Knife

Hi everyone!! Here is something so cool that I have to share..... Recently I bought a few stamp sets from Oxford Impression and the stamps are all unmounted. Putting them on the cling foams and cutting with the Kai Scissors is tedious, tiring and messy.........!!
Remembering that once I saw a tutorial on Youtube using Hot Knife to cut unmounted stamps, I will put up the link at the end of this post, so I started searching for the hot knife and found it!!, went ahead made an order and it arrived today. Yay!! Its called "The Creative Hot-knife"!! On the packaging, it says 'tools created for women' Hahahaha!!
It cuts the sticky foam like butter, no more mess, no more tired/painful fingers...... how cool is that!!! :D But be very very careful though, its really really HOT!!!

Here is how the hot-knife looks like......... It comes with 2 blades and has a ON/OFF button that is attached on the cable.... and a stand.



First, you will have to cut out the images as close to the edge as possible..........


Next, cut out a piece of the sticky foam bigger than the stamp image..... stick them together....
and place the hot-knife resting and moving along the edge of the stamp...... Viola!!!..........


You have a clean cut stamp..................!!!! Here is the finished result!!!!!

More Journals.......................

I must have fallen in love with making Journals..... Hahaha!! Here are a few that I finished and had lots of fun making them. Just trying out different techniques that I picked up here and there.

I didn't just stop at these few, I'm still in the making of a few more in different styles. Yaya!!

The first 1 that I'm sharing here is 1 made with corrugated cardboard and this is my first. I have seen many crafters/scrappers used corrugated board for 12x12 layouts, for mini albums and they looked so beautiful but have never tried it out........ So I thought why not give it a shot and have to say that it turned out not too bad. My little niece asked me to give it to her...... hehehe!!! I'm keeping it and will make her another 1.

For the hanging sign, I wanted a rusty metal looking hanger, so I first painted it with landscape green paint from Claudine Hellmuth (actually this part is not necessary), then I dabbed on some area with a 3D paint in kinda bronze color using finger to give some blotchyness and at the end I used a paint dabber in Expresso and dabbed it all over the hanger and over the bronze. Then went over with the 3D paint once more......
I used willow paint dabber and antique linen crakle paint on the front and back cover.

The signboard, I tried a technique called Rusted Enamel from "A Compendium of Curiosities" by Tim Holtz. It turned out cool........ Hahaha

the metal looking roses on this journal are a recent goodies I received from Velma... Thanks Velma.. they are so pretty... I am trying to figure out how these roses were made.... especially the very tiny ones, must be very tedious to make. Velma, if you are reading this..... you surely know where and what to buy..... you have great taste and you know what people loves. You are just wonderful. Thanks

On this one, I tried out another techniques from Tim Holtz book, on the frame....... but have to say, it didn't turn out so well..... This technique is called Rusted Grunge. He did it on grunge and I used a chipboard frame, not sure if using different material will give a different look. Or simply, I did it all wrong..... :(

The shape of this journal, covers and inside pages were cut using a Sizzix die - Card Fronts, A2 Eyelet and Ornate die.

Here I glittered the flowers with Vintage Glass Glitter-Diamond Dust by Art Glitter, using ModPodge. Then I glimmer misted it with "Peppermint Stick"

The metal butterfly was embossed with Zing Red Embossing powder.

My Thick "Prima" Mini Album

Hi everyone!! This is my thick "Prima" mini album which was inspired by Marion on 1 of her "Live with Prima" Ustream shows. Here is the link http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/5549194
I only came across the channel recently.... and there are plenty of very cool projects....!!

Here is my version of the mini. It measures 41/4" by 51/2" , I hand stitched all the pages and made a loop on the side of the mini for hanging charms and adding ribbons. It consists of 16 pattern papers that were folded into half, stitched them onto a piece of heavy weight cardstock which was glued on the back of the cover lining because I didn't want the spine to show. Its different from Marions.
I had lots of fun making this Mini and am loving it, will be making more. Papers used were from K&company Black & Ivory Fusion Collection.

I layered the fabric flowers and added some pearl strings and black pearls on the center

I already have in mind what photos are going into this mini... :D

This 1 here is a simple journal I made for myself for taking down notes relating to scrapbooking, so I called it 'all things scrappy'. The pages are also hand stitched....

What to do with "leftovers"?????

Hi there!! I know I'm not a good blogger, slacking alot.... haha!! Ok, I have here some handmade stuff that I would like to share. I learned from Utube how to make this ribbon rose, just type in ribbon rose on the search bar, and there are tons of tutorials to choose from. So just pick any one.

As a first timer, I used a wired riboon to make the rose, its easier because the wire helps to hold it better in place. After making the rose... I added a feather and some pearl strings under the rose and laid down on another round gathered satin ribbon(does that make sense???). And, this is what I have, a little embellishment for my projects....... :D I'm happy with the result, never knew I could do something like this, I also made a very tiny one and it worked!!! SURPRISE!! 0.o" didn't realise I have skillful fingers, LOL!!!






The other thing I did was organising all my laces which I bought recently from Singapore.... So I made my own ribbon spools from leftover chip pieces, scrap papers and the center piece of the Kitchen Towel Roll......or the the center piece of the Lint Roller.

Here are my ribbon spool, you can leave them plain or cover them with scrap papers.

Can have the sides in different shaps and sizes.

This 1 here, both the sides are in square and I rounded the corner. :D

Here is something new I would like to share, its the Zutter Kutter. It came to the local store here on last Friday, when I saw it on their web, I had to get it. I have seen the demo on Youtube and it seems good.

I have been looking for a good cutter that cuts chipboard, I have the fiskars trimmer which cuts only papers and the blade gets blunt pretty fast.......

I also have a Carl cutter which cut chipboard but have it for quite awhile now and thought its time to get a new and really good 1...... Yay!!!!

"ME" Paperbag Mini Album

Hi everyone!! I have just completed my first paperbag mini album with the paperbags that were made by myself. The paper used were from TPC Studio - Boho Bloom Collection.

Well, being my first paperbag mini album, I took a little longer than I thought...... I was trying to have everything perfectly put together and that explain why I haven't updated my blog for awhile...... Hahaha.

I am quite happy how it turned out, beside it being a little too fat. I'll be making another paperbag mini, hope I take less time on the next 1.

New Addition to my Craft Room

Hi all!! I am back in Switzerland, happy to be back to my craft room again.... and what did I bring back from Singapore with me??? Its the Big Shot Pro!!!! I bought it from the scrapbook store in Singapore. If my dear husband was not going to Singapore to come back with me, I wouldn't have bought it becasue its way too heavy for me to handle, the package weigh 24kg...... it was delivered to my mom's place in the original packaging, the way it came from the state and we checked it in as luggage and of course had to pay import duty at the custom in Switzerland.

This Pro is great, I am glad I bought it, also bought 4 Pro dies to try out and it cuts like butter, so easy. I heard it can cut accucut dies too and accucut has some awesome dies. :D

Now that I am back home, I hope to update my blog more often and hope to scrap more!!!

The first thing I need when I got home was making paperbags. I love to make paperbags album but there was no way I could find paperbags in Switzerland or in Singapore like those I saw on Youtube, some scrappers got from Michaels..... So I made some....... Quite happy with the results, hahahaha!!!! Now I can custom made whatever colors of paperbags to go with my choice of pattern papers.... not bad huh??? :D
